Icedea, Bangkok, Thailand

Icedea, Ice-Cream and Food Design Showroom

The first ever ice-cream and food design showroom I've been to, spotted when M and I decided to check out the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre (BACC). Icedea has got to be my favourite ice-cream concept store to date! They specialize in creating custom ice-cream flavours for shops and events.

Quirky Storefront

You might not be able to tell, but this display right outside the storefront is halved. Half of it's outside the glass panel, and the other half's inside the store. Cool huh.

Quirky Interior

The interior is equally quirky! On the left is a mini showroom of icedea's ice-cream ideas, which include concepts like ice-cream sushi. Eg. maguro sushi where maguro is actually carved out of watermelon. Really creative stuff. There's a small seating area on the right, and lots of photo opportunities(:

Photo opportunities

Like so. The place is so effortlessly chic. And it's a really interactive and fun space.

The colourful ice-cream

Now the ice-cream! Doesn't the selection look incredibly happy? There were lots of interesting flavours like yakult peepo (I have no idea what peepo is, do you?), caramel latte, apple crumble, etc.

Caramel Latte

We tried caramel latte, which was really good! Aromatic coffee with caramel is pure genius.

Melon

We couldn't get enough of the ice-cream, so we headed back and got ourselves a scoop of Melon, which was really good too. Tasted like real melon, and it was sweet but not cloyingly so. I loved this place! I doubt it's permanent though, it's a showroom after all. Still, you can check out icedea's website here. Prima is the awesome ice-cream designer behind icedea. She won the Fabrica Scholarship after working in Bangkok for 2 years, and is currently working in the Design department of Fabrica, a communication research center of Benetton in Italy.

Random paintings, BACC

The BACC itself is surprisingly chic, with the architecture reminiscent of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. You'll find many quirky stores, art showrooms, as well as exhibits. It's definitely worth a look. You'll be pleasantly surprised!
